Some Will Be Mothers

December 2013 update:

For the first time ever, one of our releases has made it's way onto the Earshot charts for Canada. Apparently college and community radio DJs and volunteers are liking it. Which is great! It was #43 on the top 50 last week and #25 this week. It would be cool to keep it going!

7"s have been moving steadily and we're almost out of red vinyl copies.

Here's a music video for "Summer Mothers" from the 7".

HHR025 (BIG NUMBER!) is going out to press before the end of the month. Look out for our first LP early 2014.

HHR001 First Base - Party, Party Party EP

In the process of making our releases available digitally I stumbled upon the masters of the first release we ever did - First Base's Party, Party, Party EP. It was the first time they ever recorded as a full band, and we were happy to have it as our flagship release.

It's been out of print forever, but for the next week it's going to be set as a free download on our Bandcamp page. Pick it up now before their LP comes out on HOZAC RECORDS next month and everyone becomes a screaming melting mess because of how good they are.

September 2013 Update - Pink Wine + La Ti Da + Ketamines

We're working hard to make this a fall to remember. Two new tapes are out now, a new 7" is out in October, and we're working on a really cool little project for late October that I can't talk about yet.

Pink Wine - Untitled tape

Toronto's premier snotty punk brats. Drink pink wine. Spit on the ground. Go Steady. Etc.

Listen here.

La Ti Da Records - 2006-2012

It's no surprise to anyone that we both love La Ti Da and everything they do. Their dedication to Canadian music on 7"s in unmatched coast to coast. I was really excited when Tim and Dale asked if we'd be interested in releasing a compilation of their first 12 singles/6 years as a label on tape. 29 songs/well over an hour of garage punk. You're not going to get a better bang for your $5 than this one.

Listen here.

Both of these are now available in the webstore.

Ketamines - So Hot! 7"

We're really happy to be doing single #3 in Ketamines' 4-part 7" series. To be mentioned in the same sentence as Mint, Pleasance and Leaning Trees is something of a pleasure for us.

This three song 7" features both the weirdest song Ketamines have recorded to date - self described by James from Ketamines as being heavily influenced by Wu Tang - and the first song James and Paul ever wrote together. Either way this 7" is bonkers, and it's Hosehead's first adventure into colour vinyl.

100 red
400 black

Listen to the first song here.

Swimming in Mailorder

I would like to thank each and every person who has ordered anything from us this week. I'm not used to people actually buying out releases.

A few updates:

Steve Adamyk Band 7" release show sleeves are all gone! Luckily I still have lots with the regular sleeve. They sound identical, so don't worry about that one.

Red Dons - Fake Meets Failure cassette is now out of print.

Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs - All To Myself 7" is extremely close to selling out.  We're down to our last 10 copies or so so jump on that quick if you'd like a copy.

Up next: Pink Wine cassette

Part Of The Noise Radio #2: The Secret Of The Tunes + Lemuria Interview

Well there you have it, another episode of Part Of The Noise in the can. Sam, Mike and I sat down in the studio to play a ton of awesome songs and do an interview with Alex and Max from Lemuria.

iTunes has now deemed us a real live thing, so you can subscribe to the show in the iTunes store and have every new episode automatically downloaded to your listening device of choice. Which is cool. Trust me. Click here to go right to our iTunes page.

7" Distro Now A Real Thing.

We're going to start taking the 7" distro section of the webstore a little more serious. Because the USPS hiked their international prices a whole bunch last week, it now costs about $9 to send a single 7" from the US to Canada, and even more to Europe. We're going to start doing distro for some American labels/friends bands. Here's a huge update that I just put in the store:

Big Eyes - Back From The Moon (Grave Mistake)
Big Eyes/Mean Jeans - Split (Dirtnap Records)
Career Suicide - Cherry Beach (Dirtnap Records)
Night Birds - Midnight Movies (No Way Records)
Psyched To Die - Sterile Walls (Grave Mistake Records)
Red Dons - Auslander (Dirtnap Records)
Sloane Peterson - Knots (Steve's Pizza and Records)
Sloane Peterson - Second Chances (Hang Up Records) BLUE vinyl
Statues - Same Bodies, Same Faces (Deranged Records)
Tenement - Take Everything (Toxic Pop Records)
Terrible Feelings - Impending Doom (Deranged Records)
Tongan Death Grip - Werewolf (House Party Records)
Tranzmitors - You Get Around (Dirtnap Records)
Young Governor - The Beat Of My Heart (Wallride Records)
Young Offenders - Small Man, Big House (Deranged Records)

Some of these I only have one copy of, some I had a bunch and are already sold out. Check out the store to see what we have in stock.

In other news, Steve Adamyk Band were in the studio with Yogi this past weekend recording a handful of songs for a new 7". Stay tuned for that!

A Few New Logos

Our pal Joel drew us up some new logos. Some of these are going to be made into merch, so expect that. Joel sings in Pink Wine, who released a really good demo in 2012 and keep talking about an LP in 2013, but they won't even let me listen to it. Buggers.
